Jubilee Ministry now has an official presence on Facebook, a social-networking site with more than 200 million active users from around the world. The group, called "Jubilee Ministry of the Episcopal Church", was started April 23, 2009. Within 24 hours it had over 85 members who had sent out hundreds of invitations to join the group to their friends. Members of the group can upload photos of their ministries, post invitations to events, start discussions with other members of the group and post links to stories and websites about their Jubilee ministries.
The hope is "that this will serve as a gathering place to share ideas, success stories and encouragement with each other, as well as an opportunity for many to learn more about Jubilee Ministry," wrote Scott van Pletzen-Rands, technical support specialist for the church's Advocacy Center and creator of the group. "We're hoping that discussion within the Facebook group will help increase awareness of the many Jubilee ministries across the church, and motivate people to become more involved in this important work."
The Jubilee Ministry Facebook group is open to any registered member of Facebook. You can join the group at or register at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=94969137952.
