Everyday Advocacy: Putting Their Money Where Their Mouth Is

The Episcopal Church has passed several resolutions over the years calling for increases in the minimum wage and a need for a real living wage for workers.

The EPPN does advocacy to the Congress calling for an increase in the Federal Minimum Wage, and is a part of the Let Justice Roll Coalition working to raise state minimum wage levels across the country.

And now, Jubilee Ministry – living out their mission statement to serve through “the talk of our faith and the walk of our faith” – just took another huge step for the Church in its ongoing efforts to help workers attain a living wage. They just announced that they will be changing the hotel for their National Jubilee Gathering. This is a BIG deal – the hotel with whom Jubilee originally contracted turns out to be in an ongoing dispute with their workers. Just a month before the event is set to happen; Jubilee Ministry makes the change to do the right thing switching to a new hotel which pays their employees a real living wage.

Bravo Jubilee Ministry!
