Central in the New Testament and the Book of Common prayer is the idea that all things should be reconciled to God and to each other. To engage God’s mission is to proclaim the reconciling gospel of Christ, to point people to the reconciling cross of Christ and to invite people to the reconciling work of the church of Christ. Once we know that the essence of our work of mission is essentially a work of reconciliation, we can approach people, not with the burden of persuading them to a point of view, but with the joy of showing them a better way, a way of reconciliation and truth.
